Modernising a data platform is never just about technology. More than anything, it is about building something that helps the business move faster, adapt quickly, and scale confidently into the future. When RESIMAC set out to modernise their data platform, they did exactly that by combining Data Vault, Snowflake, Microsoft Azure, Ignition’s Modern Data Platform Launchpad and IRiS.
This powerful combination gave RESIMAC a flexible, cloud-native data architecture that could support immediate reporting and analytics needs while preparing for longer-term ambitions, including AI, machine learning, and a major data migration initiative.
The foundation of RESIMAC’s new platform is Launchpad — a modular, cloud-native reference architecture designed by Ignition to accelerate the delivery of modern data platforms. Launchpad enabled RESIMAC to integrate tools from the Microsoft Azure ecosystem, including Azure Data Lake and Synapse Analytics, while also establishing Snowflake as the core for their enterprise Data Vault.
“Launchpad gave us the flexibility to choose the right tool for the job. We used Snowflake for our enterprise Data Vault and Azure integration tools that our team are already familiar with. That just wasn’t possible before.”
Steven Mellare, Head of Data and Architecture at RESIMAC
RESIMAC leveraged Launchpad’s data storefront pattern to rapidly stage and access data for analytics, integration and prototyping — reducing delivery pressure and enabling earlier business insights without compromising long-term architecture.
Data Vault is an increasingly popular modelling methodology for enterprises dealing with complex, ever-changing data environments. It’s designed to handle change, ensure traceability, and support long-term scalability.
For RESIMAC, Snowflake provided an ideal foundation for their enterprise Data Vault. As a highly scalable, SQL-based platform, Snowflake matched the team’s skillset and made it easier to build and manage the Data Vault. Its native support for semi-structured data, zero-copy cloning, and separation of storage and compute meant the team could move quickly without compromising governance or performance.
By pairing Snowflake with Launchpad, IRiS and Azure integration tools, RESIMAC built a modern, cloud-first data platform that enables strategic modelling, flexible analytics, and future-ready workloads, all while making the most of their internal engineering talent.
To help accelerate delivery and reduce complexity, RESIMAC also used IRiS — a metadata-driven automation tool that generates Data Vault code and integrates with the Azure stack. IRiS played a valuable supporting role in helping RESIMAC adopt a clear, repeatable framework and simplify early development.
“Data Vault can be quite intimidating. IRiS made it fast, scalable and relatively easy to configure. It would have been a lot more daunting without it.”
Steven Mellare, Head of Data and Architecture at RESIMAC
From the start, RESIMAC’s goal was not just to build a new platform, but to build the internal capability to own and evolve it. The Launchpad framework — combined with Snowflake, Azure and IRiS — enabled them to move quickly and confidently, with the Ignition team supporting training, enablement and knowledge transfer along the way.
The result? Faster access to insights, a scalable and flexible platform, and a confident internal team — all built on a modern architecture that’s ready for what comes next.
