Data Warehouse & Data Vault Adoption Trends-min

See the results of a global survey of 238 data & analytics practitioners and leaders looking at Data Warehouse and Data Vault adoption trends.

How well do Data Vault 2.0 users align their implementations to the methodology's standards? What are the main business drivers for adopting Data Vault? What are perceived as the primary drawbacks of Data Vault? How do best-in-class companies compare to laggards?

Those are just some of the questions answered by research conducted by the Eckerson Group in collaboration with BARC and sponsored by Ignition and other industry leaders.

The research studied the results of a global survey of 238 data & analytics practitioners and leaders. BARC conducted the survey in December 2022 and January 2023, drawing respondents from companies of various sizes and across various industries.

The management summary of this research is now available, and we're excited to share it with you. You can download it here.

The research highlights three lessons Data Vault users should take on board to optimise their data warehouse and the value data adds to the organisation. There are:

  1. Focus on fundamentals. Companies place the highest priority on data quality, ease of use, analytics performance, and data governance.
  2. Automate with commercial tools. Implement commercial automation tools rather than homegrown scripts because they help improve data quality and standardise and reuse tasks.
  3. Get smarter about the data vault. Study how best-in-class adopters selected the Data Vault, trained their teams on the 2.0 solution, and plan to expand its footprint.
